A grey whale blows the typical heart-shaped plume formed by the double blow hole. This shape is seen if the whale if facing directly towards (or away from) the observer. Backlighting by the rising sun makes this plume more visible than would be typical. This whale was located in Saratoga Passage between Whidbey and Camano Islands.
