Description
Bigg's Orca T-36 is matriarch of the T-36 pod. Her two daughters have each had two daughters of their own making her a very successful Bigg's or Transient Orca. Unlike the Resident Orca of the Salish Sea, transients hunt mammals rather than salmon. This may be the reason that they are more successful than the pods that depend on the salmon to survive. In this capture, she is hunting close to shore at Lagoon Point on Whidbey Island with Admiralty Inlet in the background with the west shore of Whidbey Island showing from Fort Casey state park to Ebey's Landing off in the distance.
